چکیده

We present results from two-photon photoassociative spectroscopy of the least-bound vibrational level of the X 1 g + state of the Sr2 dimer. Measurement of the binding energy allows us to determine the s-wave scattering length a88=−1.4 6 a0. For the intermediate state, we use a bound level on the metastable S0P1 potential, which provides large Franck-Condon transition factors and narrow one-photon photoassociative lines that are advantageous for observing quantum-optical effects such as Autler-Townes resonance splittings.

We report photoassociative spectroscopy of 88Sr2 in a magneto-optical trap operating on the 1S0 → 3P1 intercombination line at 689 nm. Photoassociative transitions are driven with a laser red-detuned by 600-2400MHz from the 1S0 → 1P1 atomic resonance at 461 nm. Photoassociation takes place at extremely large internuclear separation, and the photoassociative spectrum is strongly affected by rela...

Simple theoretical models for resonant cold atom interactions

Magnetically tunable scattering resonances have been used with great success for precise control of s-wave scattering lengths in ultracold atomic collisions. We describe relatively simple yet quite powerful analytic treatments of such resonances based on the analytic properties of the van der Waals long range potential. This theory can be used to characterize a number of properties of specific ...

Photoassociative molecular spectroscopy for atomic radiative lifetimes

When the atoms of a dimer remain most of the time very far apart, in so-called longrange molecular states, their mutual interaction is ruled by plain atomic properties. The highresolution spectroscopic study of some molecular excited states populated by photoassociation of cold atoms (photoassociative spectroscopy) gives a good illustration of this property. It provides accurate determinations ...
